30 Juin Alsace days in Canada
«One of the world’s most distinctive wine regions, Alsace has a unique identity influenced by its equally unique location.» …… Vintages Magazine, 28th of May 2011.
Pierre Trimbach has been the winemaker for Trimbach winery for 32 years now. As the «Technical Director» Pierre’s responsibilities throughout the year in the vineyards and cellar mean that he does not often have the opportunity to travel.
However some very special events made him accept an invitation to pay a visit to our Canadian friends. He was warmly welcome by the Woodmans, our top agents in Ontario.

Vintages had organised a fabulous day to Pierre on the 8th of June. First, a TV interview with Igor Ryjenkov (MW), and then a tutored tasting at Quince Restaurant in Toronto which quickly sold out. Pierre has met many wine journalists/writers and wine aficionados.
The feedback we’ve seen from blogs seem to be very good. People particularly remember one key expression from Pierre: « to produce great wines, you need 3 rules ; balance, balance and balance. The rest is blah blah blah… »

On June the 9th, Pierre went to Brock University to be the Keynote speaker at the Riesling Experience, all about Riesling, the King of white grapes.
« Pierre Trimbach, Domaine Trimbach, France. Talk and Tasting
Participants will have the unique opportunity to meet and listen as Pierre gives a history of Domaine Trimbach, his perspective on Riesling in the Alsatian market as well as Riesling wines in an international perspective.
This session will also include a special tasting of Trimbach Riesling wines. »
Our current vintages of our 3 different Rieslings were presented and tasted : Riesling 2009, Riesling Reserve 2009 and Riesling Cuvée Frédéric Emile 2005. An older vintage of our Signature Riesling was also proposed: Riesling Cuvée Frédéric Emile 2000.
Needless to say that those events where fantastic : great organisation, great attendies, great food and wine pairings which Pierre loves when it is balanced! Thanks to all the organisers for some memorable days!
Today, we are thrilled to know that our Riesling 2009, Pinot Gris Reserve 2007, Riesling Frederic Emile 2005 and Gewurztraminer VT (late harvest) 2005 will be available in Canada thanks to Vintages!
Cheers to Canada, Alsace and Alsace wines of course !
